January 7, 2011: Title II fee payments hit a record high of almost $1.43 billion in 2010, eclipsing the previous high-water mark of $1.32 billion set in 2009.
Over $100 million was paid out in Title II fees in each inidividual month of 2010. This was also a first, as only $90 million was paid in December 2009.
This increase is a continuation of a trend dating back over a decade. Over the past ten years, Title II fee payments have increased over 120%.
